URA FacadeWeb & Database Migration
Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA)
During my one-year internship at URA, I was tasked with redeveloping FacadeWeb — a government e-service portal used by agents to request approval for facade changes to conserved buildings. The existing system was outdated and needed a full modernisation.
- Migrated from Java 8 → Java 17 and Spring → Spring Boot
- Replaced JSP templates with Thymeleaf and modernised the UI to the Singapore Government Design System (SGDS)
- Migrated data access layer from JDBC → JPA
- Integrated an internal government API to verify if an area is conserved before processing requests
- Implemented address autocomplete for improved user experience using a government API
- Followed Agile methodology with daily stand-up meetings with my Scrum Master to track progress, surface blockers and plan upcoming tasks
- Migrated an existing Oracle database to Microsoft SQL, converting all syntax, triggers and stored procedures for compatibility with Azure SQL Managed Instance

A mobile application for Android built with Kotlin, connected to a live movie database API. Users can create accounts, browse movies, leave ratings and comments, and save their favourite films to a personal watchlist.

A sustainability-focused e-commerce platform where users can purchase sustainably sourced products and enroll in sustainability courses. For every $10 spent, users earn reward points and contribute to planting one tree. Users can redeem their accumulated points for courses or purchase them directly. I was responsible for implementing automated email features, developing the blog system using AWS S3 for image and video storage, integrating AWS Translate for multilingual support, and integrating the platform’s AI chatbot.

The platform aggregates match data and performance metrics, giving fans the tools to explore the game beyond the scoreline. Features an integrated AI companion that helps users make calculated, data-driven decisions based on real football analytics.
